Nintendo now expects to have sold 19.5 million switch consoles for the entire current financial year.
The Nintendo Switch always sells well, but in the third quarter of the current financial year (from October 2019 to December 2019), the numbers of the Bonkers were sold. With 10.81 million units sold in just three months, the lifetime turnover of the system is now over 52 million (which surpasses the cost of life of the Xbox One). And this development has led to the expectations that the company has raised its sales forecasts for the 2019-20 financial year.
Nintendo had previously expected a total of 18 million Switch consoles throughout the current financial year. After Nintendo has already sold 17.74 million units and is left over a quarter of the financial year, it raised its sales forecast to 19.5 million units. In view of the recent events, this seems to be completely dominable for the system.
At the same time, they raised their forecast for total revenue with software for the financial year. The previous quarter was also a strong for software sales. After 123.3 million software units sold in the first three quarters, they raised their forecasts from 125 million to 140 million units.
In the meantime, Nintendo recently recorded a significant increase in digital revenue. Read more about that here.
