Former Bundesliga trainer André Breitenreiter secured the football championship in Switzerland prematurely with FC Zurich. After the 2-0 (2-0) at FC Basel on Sunday, the FCZ can no longer be replaced by the top of the table. Almost a year after taking office, the Breitenreiter team would have been enough in the duel in the second place in the table in Basel to make the 13th title perfect. The lead in four outstanding games is 16 points. Breitenreiter had trained the Bundesliga clubs SC Paderborn and Schalke 04 and the second division Hannover 96 in Germany before he took over the coaching position in Switzerland in July 2021. It was the first championship for Zurich since 2009. Record champion remains city rival Grasshopper Zurich with 27 titles.
